POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Johns Hopkins went undefeated on Sunday at the 2026 Eastern Women's Fencing Conference Championship (EWFC) to claim the program's 12
th title. The Blue Jays also earned weapons' titles in the Sabre and Foil, while finishing second in the Epee.
Hopkins picked up wins over Stevens (20-7), Hunter (27-0), sixth-ranked Tufts (18-9), seventh-ranked Wellesley (19-8), Vassar (16-11), CCNY (27-0), Haverford (25-2), Yeshiva (26-1) and Drew (23-4). The Blue Jays improve to 32-4 on the season and broke the program record for wins with the win over the host Brewers.
The Sabre squad finished with a 65-16 record on the day, winning eight of nine matches. The Blue Jays' only loss in the Sabre came in a tight 5-4 match with Vassar. It is the Sabre squad's 10
th EWFC title.
Josephine Chang and
Jessie Tong each went 11 bouts to lead the Sabre squad.
Lauren Prieur and
Ky McSweeney won eight bouts apiece.
The Foil squad won an impressive 78 of 81 bouts and went 9-0 overall to claim their 10
th EWFC title.
Nina Markovsky led the Foil squad with 13 wins, while
Julianna Wu,
Camille Oteyza,
Sophia Baleeiro and
Adrianne Lin won 12 bouts each.
The Blue Jays Epee squad finished 58-23 to take second place. JHU won seven of nine matches on the day.
Janie McSweeney and
Nicole Yu led the Blue Jays with 12 wins each.
Mickey Zhang and
Mariela Abramson won 11 bouts apiece.
Hopkins returns to action on Sunday, February 22 at the Temple Invitational.
