No. 3/3 Blue Jays Erupt After First-Quarter Battle, Rout Mary Washington 81-37

Hopkins Closes Home Slate with 23rd Straight Win

BALTIMORE, MD – The No. 3/3 Johns Hopkins women's basketball team turned a tight first quarter into a runaway Wednesday night, overwhelming the University of Mary Washington, 81-37, inside Goldfarb Gymnasium in its final regular-season home game.

After trailing by one at the end of the opening frame, the Blue Jays outscored the Eagles 65-20 over the final three quarters to secure the program's—and Centennial Conference record—23rd consecutive victory and improve to 23-0 overall. Hopkins remains one of just four unbeaten teams in Division III.

Mary Washington came out firing, controlling much of the first quarter and leading for nearly six minutes of the period. The Eagles shot 47.1 percent (8-of-17) from the field and built a 7-2 advantage with 7:05 remaining in the frame. Hopkins, meanwhile, struggled to find its rhythm early, shooting 31.8 percent (7-of-22) and going 0-for-6 from three-point range. Despite the slow start, the Blue Jays trimmed the deficit to 17-16 by the end of the quarter.

The tone shifted dramatically in the second.

Emily Collins gave Hopkins the lead 18-17 with a layup, and after Mary Washington briefly reclaimed a 20-19 edge, the Blue Jays seized complete control. Hopkins closed the half on a decisive 22-3 run over the final 5:04, turning a one-point game into a commanding 45-25 advantage at the break. Faith Williamson ignited the surge, scoring 11 points during the run and knocking down a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc.

The dominance continued in the third quarter. Williamson's fourth three-pointer pushed the lead to 59-28, and Beth Corelli capped the period with a three of her own to send Hopkins into the final frame with a 30-point cushion.

There was no letup in the fourth. Quinn O'Donnell extended the margin to a game-high 44 points at 81-37 as the Blue Jays completed the emphatic victory.

Williamson led the way with a career-high 18 points on 4-of-5 shooting from deep, adding two rebounds, three steals and an assist. Collins recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, along with a steal and a block. Defensively, Hopkins forced 19 steals, with Kendall Dunham and Serena Mezzetta tallying four apiece as the Blue Jays suffocated the Eagles for just 37 total points.

Johns Hopkins returns to action Saturday, February 21, traveling to Carlisle, PA to face Dickinson inside the Kline Center in its regular-season finale. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
