LANCASTER, PA – Johns Hopkins graduate student
William Jaun has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week following a stellar performance over the last week, announced Tuesday. The honor marks the first of his career and makes him the third Blue Jay to earn weekly recognition this season.
Jaun powered the Blue Jays to a 4-0 week in conference play, highlighted by a pair of wins over 15
th-ranked Gettysburg (34-14, 15-13) and a doubleheader sweep of Muhlenberg (14-3, 15-10). Across four games, he hit .579 (11-for-19) with 16 RBIs, 11 runs scored, three home runs—including a grand slam—a double and two walks, good for a 1.724 OPS.
In the program-record 34-14 win at Gettysburg, the first baseman went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBIs, five runs scored, a walk and a three-run home run. He followed with another dominant performance in the 15-13 win, going 4-for-5 with eight RBIs, three runs, a grand slam, a two-run homer and a two-run single.
Through 27 games this season, Jaun leads the team in batting average (.430) and hits (40) and ranks second in runs (43) and RBIs (43), ranking 10
th in the nation in RBIs. Additionally, the Loveland, Ohio native is currently riding a 10-game hit streak and has recorded at least three hits in four of those contests.
Hopkins returns to action later today, Tuesday, April 7, hosting McDaniel at Babb Field at Stromberg Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
