Johns Hopkins Earns AVCA Team Academic Award

BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins volleyball team was honored today by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for its outstanding efforts in the classroom during the 2025-26 academic year.  The Blue Jays earned the AVCA's 2026 Team Academic Award and earned additional distinction by being placed on the organization's Team Academic Honor Roll.

Johns Hopkins was one of 233 NCAA Division III volleyball programs that earned the AVCA's Team Academic Award, which is presented to teams that maintained a team cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher for the entire academic year.  Blue Jay volleyball players combined to post a 3.83 team GPA with 10 perfect 4.0 semesters between the fall (2025) and the spring (2026).

With its 3.83 cumulative GPA for the year, Johns Hopkins also locked down its spot on the Team Academic Honor Roll, which is a distinction reserved for programs with a year-long GPA that ranks among the top 20% of those teams that earn the Team Academic Award.

Johns Hopkins will open the 2026 season on Friday, September 4, when the Blue Jays welcome Penn State Altoona to Goldfarb Gymnasium for their first match in the 2026 Greg "Gio" Giovanazzi Memorial Tournament.
