BALTIMORE, MD – Host Johns Hopkins closed the game on a 9-0 run to grab 13-8 win over George Washington Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 7-3 on the season and snap the Revs four-game win streak as they fall to 9-5.
 
Hopkins jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the opening five minutes and 12 seconds with goals from Mason Hofmann, Owen Bartlett and Phillip Long. Ben McDade scored at the 2:24-mark to spark a 7-1 run that spanned just over six minutes. McDade and Anthony Ferneini did the bulk of the damage, combining for six of the seven goals. Ferneini capped the run at 4:10 in the second, staking George Washington to an 8-4 lead.
 
As it turned out, Ferneini's goal was the Revolutionaries last of the game. Max Blecher answered with an even-strength goal at 2:28, followed by a pair of Hofmann goals and the lead was down to two at the half. Long scored 21 seconds into the third to make it a one-goal game and a little over five minutes later, Luke Mendelsohn tied the game at eight.
 
Blake Lowe scored with just 12 seconds left in the quarter and all of a sudden, Hopkins had a 9-8 lead. It was the Blue Jays first lead since the 2:24-mark in the first. Ben Lucas cashed in on an extra man 74 seconds into the fourth. Patrick Rooney did the same less than two minutes later and Hopkins led 11-8. Hoffman pushed the lead to four with a five-meter goal at 2:56 before Long capped the scoring at 1:43.
 
Long led the Blue Jays with a season-high four goals while Hofmann added his third hat trick of the season. Sebastian Isaacs tallied six saves in the win for the Blue Jays. With the win, Hopkins snapped a 23-game losing streak to GW, earning its first win in the series since November 4, 2016. The Blue Jays had lost to the Revs just six days ago. 
 
Hopkins returns to action next weekend at the Bruno Invitational in Providence, RI. JHU will take on MIT, Harvard and Conn College on Saturday, September 26.
