PROVIDENCE, RI – Johns Hopkins capped a three-game day at the Bruno Invite with a 16-9 win over Conn College Saturday evening. The Blue Jays improve to 9-4 while the Camels fall to 3-7.
 
Conn College led 2-1 early, but a Blake Lowe goal at the 3:54-mark sparked a five-goal run that bridged the quarter break. Lowe scored three of the five goals and bookended the run to stake Hopkins to a 6-2 lead just 1:35 into the third.
 
Cormac Stevens halted the run, temporarily, it turned out with a goal at 6:01 for the Camels. Owen Bartlett and Luke Mendelsohn answered with back-to-back scores and the lead was 8-3 with 1:25 on the clock. Chris Poisler then scored the length of the pool to send the Blue Jays into the half with a 9-3 lead.
 
Stevens opened the third quarter scoring 74 seconds in, but an Alec Baker six-on-five goal sparked a 5-2 run to end the quarter. Five different Blue Jays scored during the run, which included a pair of man-up goals. Conn College battled back, getting goals from Stevens and Keegan Kosiba to open the fourth and pull back within six. Baker and Bartlett got those two back for Hopkins and it was 16-8 with 1:08 on the clock. Ethan Hipsky tacked on a late goal for the Camels to account for the 16-9 final.
 
Bartlett led the Blue Jays with four goals while Max Blecher handed out four assists to go with a goal. Baker chipped in four points (2g, 2a) and grabbed four steals. Lowe finished with the three goals for his second career hat trick. Poisler tallied eight saves to go with a goal, the fourth of his career, in the cage.
 
Hopkins is right back in the pool on Sunday to take on host Brown (10:00 am) and Concordia-Irvine (12:45 pm) to wrap up the Bruno Invite.
