Mission statement: We prioritize mental health by providing tools, resources, and education focused on mental performance—empowering our athletes to thrive not only in their respected sport, but also set them up for success after their time at JHU.

What We Do

Individual Sessions:
These confidential individual sessions with student-athletes are conducted in person or over zoom. They address a wide variety of topics including but not limited to, performance anxiety, mental health support, stress management techniques, resilience techniques, visualization, routine building tips, and goal setting. Each one-on-one session is unique and personalized to the student-athlete working to improve their mental performance and meet their personal goals.

Team Sessions:
Team sessions are designed to address each team on overarching mental performance techniques and strategies that can enhance sport performance not only on the field and in competition, but also navigating the weight of being a student-athlete and Johns Hopkins University. Sessions are interactive and open to team feedback on their specific goals and vision. In addition, to the longer team sessions, shorter team sessions are conducted informally before or after team lifts or practices. These can be done in a shorter amount of time addressing more specific and personalized concepts for athletes based on what they need at that moment.

First year Mental Health and Performance workshop series:
Many first-year students experience stress during their transition to college. These workshops aim to ease that transition by educating athletes on what mental health and performance is and how it is relevant to athletics and its impact on us holistically.

Student Groups

Morgan's Message Our Morgan's Message chapter at JHU is an entirely student run group that aims to eliminate the stigma around mental health in athletics by building a community by athletes, for athletes through conversations and providing a platform for advocacy. The JHU Morgan's message chapter also aims to equalize treatment for physical and mental health in athletics, normalize conversations in safe spaces, and empower athletes who are suffering and support those who feel alone.
Mental Health & Performance Ambassadors Group In this student group, representatives from each team who are passionate about mental health and performance meet to discuss and share thoughts on ways to improve the student-athlete experience at JHU. The group aims to create a supportive environment that prioritizes mental health, enhances mental performance, and challenges the stigma around seeking help, both on and off the field.
Injured Athletes Support group Open to all athletes, this group aims to provide an environment that is supportive and understanding of athletes dealing with injuries. It provides a space for athletes to talk about their experiences, decrease feelings of isolation, and encourage a positive mindset as they journey through the recovery process.
