    Baseball Assistant Coach

Denny Cox is back for his 10th season as an assistant under head coach Bob Babb. Cox served as the head baseball coach at Johns Hopkins from 1972 to 1979 and worked with Babb as both a coach and a player.

Cox first came to Hopkins as an assistant football coach in 1969. He was elevated to the head coach position for football in the fall of 1971. Marshall Turner Jr., the Athletic Director at the time, became aware of Cox's baseball background and offered him the head baseball coach position.

Under Cox's leadership, the baseball team steadily improved from a 4-12 record his first season to 17-12 in 1979. In 1976, the Blue Jays were invited to play in the NCAA Division III regional playoffs after posting a 16-8 record, a historic first for the Hopkins baseball team. Cox retired with an 82-87 (.485) mark as the head baseball coach at JHU in his seven years.

Cox works primarily with the Blue Jay catchers.
