Updated:  August 28, 2022

Kalvin Seamonson joined Greg Chimera’s staff as a defensive assistant in 2019 and is now in his fourth year in that same role.

The 2021 Blue Jay defense was among the nation’s best as Johns Hopkins allowed just 15.2 points per game and produced more than 30 sacks (39) and forced more than 30 turnovers (32).  The unit helped Johns Hopkins post a 10-2 record with a share of the Centennial Conference title and a trip to the second round of the NCAA playoffs.

Seamonson helped guide a young Blue Jay defense in 2019 that allowed just 17.8 points and 336.4 yards per game.  Four Johns Hopkins defenders earned All-Centennial Conference honors, including first team selections Mike Kalanik (DL) and Macauley Kilbane (DB).  The Blue Jays posted an 8-3 record and beat Stevenson, 51-28, in the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series.

A native of nearby Columbia, Maryland, Seamonson came to Johns Hopkins after working with the Baltimore Brigade of the AFL.  With the Brigade, he assisted with all aspects of the organization, including personnel, scouting, operations, video services and equipment management and helped the team to the league championship game in 2018.

In 2010, he was a walk-on defensive back at the University of Maryland, where his father, Al Seamonson, was an assistant coach from 2001-10.  Seamonson graduated from Stevenson University, where he was a defensive back and member of the Mustang special teams.
