First Day at Johns Hopkins:  April 1, 2026

Joining the Blue Jay coaching staff in 2026 and beginning his college coaching career is Luke Schuermann.  Schuermann was a standout defensive lineman at Johns Hopkins from 2021-23 before playing his final season at UCLA.
 
During his three seasons at Johns Hopkins (2021-23), Schuermann was a finalist for the prestigious William V. Campbell Trophy, earned a total of seven All-America selections from three different organizations (D3football.com, Associated Press, AFCA), was a three-time First Team All-Centennial Conference selection and was twice named the Centennial's Defensive Player of the Year.  

Statistically, Scheurmann graduated as Johns Hopkins' career leader in sacks (34.5) and tackles for loss (62.5) among his 171 career tackles.  He was also a three-time CSC Academic All-America selection as well as he garnered first team honors in 2021 and 2023 and second team status in 2022.  He remains one of just three players in program history to earn First Team All-America nad First Team Academic All-America honors.
