- Great-grandfather (Ben "Bud" Kaestner), grandfather (Ben "Hank" Kaestner) and cousin (John Kaestner) all played lacrosse at Johns Hopkins.
- Grandfather was the 1966 and 1967 Schmeisser Award winner as the nation's top defenseman and was inducted into the Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1986.
