Biography
2005-06: Named co-captain for 2006-07 season 2005-06 CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-District 2005-06 First Team All-Centennial Conference 2005-06 Centennial Academic Honor Roll On pace to become 13th player in Hopkins[apos] history to score 1,000 career points Started in all 26 games, averaging a team-high 15.6 points per game finished the season ranked sixth in Hopkins history with a career field goal percentage of 57.4 led the Centennial Conference in field goal percentage and finished tied for fifth in scoring average ranked eighth in the conference in free throw percentage shot 61.8 percent from the floor and 77.1 percent from the free throw line for the season averaged 5.3 rebounds per game scored in double-figures in 23 of Hopkins[apos] 26 games scored 20-plus points in seven games scored 23 points (7-11 FG, 9-11 FT) in an overtime loss at Villa Julie also pulled in a season-high eight rebounds (5 offensive) against the Mustangs en route to a Pride of Maryland All-Tournament Team nod averaged 16.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game and shot 69.2 percent from the floor in the Pride of Maryland Tournament one of two Blue Jays to score in double figures (10 points, 5-9 FG) against Division I Furman earned his first career Centennial Conference Player of the Week honor (Jan. 16) after scoring a then career-high 27 points (7-11 FG, 13-15 FT) at Haverford and recording his first career double-double with a 20-point (7-14 FG, 6-7 FT), 10-rebound performance in a loss to Ursinus notched 23 points in only 16 second half minutes (10-11 FG, 3-8 FT) in a win over Washington College.
2004-05: Appeared in all 25 games and started 12, including the last 10 shot 57.8 percent from the floor eight double-digit point games; Hopkins was 7-1 when he scored 10 or more points named to the Centennial Honor Roll Jan. 24 after a career-high 22-point outing at Dickinson and 12 against McDaniel six games with five or more rebounds career-high nine rebounds in the Centennial Conference Tournament at Haverford posted four assists in a win over Haverford four steals vs. Muhlenberg, best of any Hopkins player in 2004-05.
2003-04: Appeared in all 27 games for the Blue Jays, starting three averaged 4.1 points and 2.2 rebounds per game had a season-high 12 points in a win over Swarthmore on Dec. 10 collected eight rebounds and 11 points at McDaniel pulled down a season-best nine rebounds against Washington.
Personal: Matthew Griffin born May 31, 1985 son of Susan and Kevin Griffin First Team All-Delco and All-Central selection at Penncrest led team to the Penncrest Christmas Tournament Championship named a captain of the basketball team as a senior was also a member of the Penncrest football and track teams father, Kevin, played football at Ursinus sister, Jackie, is a freshman on the volleyball team at The College of St. Rose volunteer teacher for SAT prep at Dunbar High School in Baltimore Dean[apos]s List majoring in psychology and philosophy.
