Biography

Did You Know: Kevin Boland[apos]s dad (Kevin) played lacrosse at Maryland in the 1970s and earned Third Team All-America honors for the Terps in 1977.

This Season: Co-captain • Will hold down a spot on Hopkins[apos] first midfield after anchoring the team[apos]s second unit during the last two years.

Statistically Speaking: Finished one assist shy of JHU[apos]s record for most assists in one year during the NCAA Tournament • 12 assists in four NCAA Tournament games in 2003 was one shy of Jeff Wills[apos] school record of 13 • Enters final season with career totals of 34 goals and 50 assists for 84 points.

2003: Garnered Third Team STX/USILA All-America honors for the second consecutive season • Finished tied for third on the team in scoring with 21 goals and 25 assists for 46 points • Finished 19th in the nation in assists (1.56) • Scored a career-high five goals and added one assist for a personal-best six points in a 21-5 win over Canisius • Tied career-high for points with a one-goal, five-assist effort vs. Army in the first round of the NCAA Tournament • Five assists vs. Army are tied for the second-highest single-game total by a Johns Hopkins player in an NCAA Tournament game • Five assists vs. Army were also the most by a JHU player in an NCAA Tournament game since 1992, when Jeff Wills actually had five in back-to-back games against Towson and Syracuse • Finished as JHU[apos]s leading scorer in the NCAA Tournament with three goals and 12 assists for 15 points • Had a respectable 12 points in the first six games of the season, but finished the season as one of the hottest players in the nation as he had 15 goals and 19 assists for 34 points in the final 10 games.

2002: Third Team STX/USILA All-American •Enjoyed a breakout campaign with 12 goals and 19 assists for 31 points • Tied for third on the team in points and led the squad in assists • 19 assists were the most by a JHU midfielder since 1999 • Became the first midfielder to lead Johns Hopkins in assists since 1985 • Tallied a then career-high three goals and two assists for a then personal-best five points to lead JHU to a 9-8 come-from-behind win over then top-ranked Syracuse • Had one goal and two assists in season-opening 8-5 win over defending national champion Princeton • Registered at least one point in 13 of 14 games on the year and had nine multi-point games on the year • Tied for the team-lead with six extra-man goals on the year.

2001: Came on strong at the end of the season • Entered the game against Navy with one goal and one assist • Responded with a career-high three assists against the Midshipmen and added an assist in the win over Towson and another against Notre Dame to run his season totals to one goal and six assists for seven points • Against Navy, assisted on second-quarter goals by Conor Ford and Matt Hanna, which both cut two-goal Navy leads to one and added an assist on Hanna[apos]s second goal of the game late in the third quarter that gave Hopkins the lead for good.

At Gilman: Helped lead Gilman to MIAA 'A' title as a sophomore (1998) and a senior (2000) • Earned First Team All-Metro and First Team All-State honors and was a member of the Maryland Bay State Select Team • Also played basketball.
