Michelle Rodriguez-Smith, who brings an extensive coaching background at the college, club and national levels to Homewood, joined head coach Dan Weiler's staff in 2024. She assists in all areas of the program, including recruiting and individual player development.
In Rodriguez-Smith's first season at Johns Hopkins, the Blue Jays narrowly missed a return trip to the final four in 2024 as they posted an 18-3-3 record, won a third straight Centennial Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals before falling by a goal. Johns Hopkins had two players earn All-America honors, produced a pair of Academic All-Americans and senior Katie Sullivan was named the National Player of the year to highlight a highly-successful 2024 season.
Â
A graduate of the University of Maryland, Rodriguez-Smith has served as the head coach at George Washington and nearby Notre Dame University with assistant coaching stops at Georgia and William and Mary. She was also an assistant at George Washington for four seasons. As the top assistant at Georgia, she helped the Bulldogs to a pair of appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

In addition to her role at Johns Hopkins, Rodriguez-Smith currently serves as the Director of Player Development with the Potomac Soccer Association, the latest in a long line of stops at the club level where she has worked with youth soccer players through their development and transition to college soccer.Â
Rodriguez-Smith also spent three years as an assistant coach and scout with the US Soccer Federation and four years as the director of the girls program with the Washington Capital United.
