Dr. Stephen Ronson returns as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2019-2020 season. Ronson first volunteered with the team as far back as the 2001-2002 season while in medical school. During his residency he was a volunteer coach with Yucaipa Swim Team in California and then returned to the East Coast and is back with the Blue Jays.
Ronson grew up swimming with the Irvine Novaquatics in Irvine, CA and finished his prep career as the NISCA National High School Champion in the 100 Breaststroke and 200 IM and earned USA Swimming’s Top-16 #1 rank in the 17-18 year-old Men’s 200 yard Breaststroke. Ronson went on to swim for Stanford University where he was a member of 4 Pac-10 Championship teams and the 1998 NCAA Division 1 National Championship Team. Ronson capped off his competitive swimming career by qualifying for the 2000 Olympic Trials in the 100 Breaststroke and 200 IM. He is one of our country’s only athletes to have competed in the US Open in more than one sport: 1995 US Open of Swimming – Irvine Novaquatics; 2005 US Open of Water Polo – OCWPF, Bronze.
Ronson works as a Radiation Oncologist in Towson, Maryland. His wife Kelly is an Elementary School Teacher and his two daughters, Kessly and Soren, are swimmers on North Baltimore Aquatic Club (NBAC).
