Micah Guthland is in his first year coaching with Johns Hopkins, after coaching the throwing events for six years at Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota. During his time at Macalester, his athletes broke school records in men’s and women’s hammer as well as women’s weight, received recognition as two time All Central Region of the USTFCCCA in javelin, and gained multiple top-ten all time performance marks in all indoor and outdoor throwing events. He also served as a strength and conditioning coach while at Macalester.
Guthland earned his undergraduate degree at the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota and was a member of the track & field team while there. After receiving his B.A. in Business Law and Marketing, Guthland went to the University of Minnesota for his Coaching Certificate and Master of Education in Applied Kinesiology and Sports Management. Guthland has multiple certifications through USA Track & Field, USTFCCCA and US Weightlifting, including: USATF Level 2:Throws, USTFCCCA Strength and Conditioning Specialist, USTFCCCA Sprints Hurdles and Relays Events Specialist, and US Weightlifting Level 1.
