Jonathan Ferber is in his first year as the department’s Director of Strength and Conditioning.  Ferber transitioned to this role in August 2018 after serving at Johns Hopkins since August 2014 as a strength and conditioning specialist.
 
As the Director of Strength and Conditioning, Ferber provides overall supervision of sport-specific strength and conditioning programs that facilitate maximum benefits for Johns Hopkins’ more than 600 varsity student-athletes.  He works closely with the head coaches of Johns Hopkins’ 24 athletic teams and members of the department’s sports performance staff on performance enhancement, injury prevention and recovery and conditioning best-practices for all sports.
 
Ferber served as Johns Hopkins’ Strength and Conditioning Specialist beginning in August 2014 through the University’s contract with MedStar.  In this role, Ferber designed and implemented strength and conditioning programs for eight Johns Hopkins teams, oversaw the scheduling and operation of the varsity weight room and helped provide direction for the strength and conditioning programs utilized by the department’s other 16 teams as well.
 
In addition to his work at Johns Hopkins, Ferber has worked as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist at Jay Dyer Strength and Conditioning since 2013.  He holds certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, USA Weightlifting, Original Strength and the Red Cross.
 
A 2013 graduate of West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology, Ferber went on to earn his master’s degree in exercise science and physical education.
