Sydney Portale

Sydney Portale joined the Johns Hopkins volleyball staff in 2022 following an illustrious playing career at both Susquehanna and Hopkins. In her first two seasons with the River Hawks, Portale was a two-time All-Landmark Conference Second Team honoree before reaching new heights in her 2019 campaign. As a junior, the Glen Mills, PA native ranked 19th in the nation in kills with 452 en route to being named to the All-Landmark First Team, NCAA Baltimore Regional All-Tournament Team, the AVCA East Region Player of the Year, and an AVCA First Team All-American.

Following her career at Susquehanna, Portale made the move to Hopkins as a graduate transfer where she led the Jays in kills with 229. One of just four players to appear in 31 of Hopkins' 32 contests, Portale tallied a season-high 15 kills in a four-set victory over Gettysburg, and finished second on the team with nine kills in their Sweet 16 loss to Tufts. She continued to pile up the accolades with the Jays, garnering All-Centennial Conference Second Team, AVCA First Team All-Region, and AVCA Third Team All-American honors.
