Dan Schuman joined the Blue Jays' cross country and track & field staff as an assistant coach in February of 2024. A four-year member of Duke University's cross country and track & field teams from 1993-97 where he was a four-time Academic All-ACC honoree and three-time ACC Finalist, Schuman has spent more than the last decade as a successful high school coach before coming to Hopkins.
Most recently, Schuman served as the head track & field and cross country coach at the DC International School, where he led the Boys and Girls team to the school's first ever PCSAA Championship. A true believer in the sport, Schuman has started three track teams from scratch at three different institutions, and in his career has coached two high school All-Americans and two All-State performers. Schuman — who has lived in 10 different countries and spanned six continents in his lifetime — also spent a year as the head cross country coach of TASIS England, where he led the Boys program to an ISST Varsity Championship.
Schuman is USATF Level 1 and 2 certified, and has already assisted in coaching several Hopkins athletes to All-American status.
