Kristen O'Rourke

    Assistant Field Hockey Coach
Kristen O'Rourke joined the Johns Hopkins field hockey staff in 2025. Rourke previously coached at Columbia, Yale and Davidson as well as with USA Field Hockey. 

O'Rourke coached three seasons with the Lions, where she coached Katie Wimmer to a pair of All-Ivy League honors and was named the 2024 Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year. At Yale, she coached Sydney Terroso to All-Ivy League honors in 2018 and 2019. 

O'Rourke spent three seasons as the goalkeeping coach at Davidson, where she helped Emily Leytham rank in the top-10 nationally in save percentage in 2014 and 2015. She began her coaching career at Richmond, where she coached from 2010 to 2013. She helped Anna Zarkoski post the nation's best save percentage in 2011 and 2013.

O'Rourke has been involved with USA Field Hockey on multiple levels, including serving as a National Futures Championship coach and selector. At the regional level she has served as site director/head coach, goalkeeping coach and selector.. Additionally, she has been the director of Next Level by KO since 2013, operating clinics and play days while consulting future collegiate keepers.

O'Rourke is a 2010 graduate of James Madison, with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology, with a concentration in sports management and a minor in business. A four-year student-athlete, she earned JMU Athletic Director Scholar-Athlete honors as a senior. As a junior,  she contributed to a JMU team that finished first in the nation in goals against average and shutouts per game (2008).
