Dr. Patrick Brugh serves as the Assistant Director of Life Design at Johns Hopkins and works closely with all Johns Hopkins student-athletes.  He is the first person to serve in this newly-created position and works with student-athletes to support their career and life ambitions through discernment, career and professional development, and design thinking skills that take into account their broad academic and personal interests.

Brugh came to Johns Hopkins from nearby Loyola University Maryland, where he was the Director of the Language Learning Center and an affiliate faculty member in German and Gender & Sexuality Studies. His research, teaching, and work involve learning space design for student engagement, gender-based violence prevention, active learning and critical pedagogies, and the cultural history of technology.

Brugh was a member of the swimming and diving team at the University of Pennsylvania and he completed his PhD at Washington University in St. Louis, where he was also a graduate assistant with the varsity swim team.
