First Day at Johns Hopkins: November 22, 2021

Ryan Davis joined the Johns Hopkins Department of Athletics in November 2021 as Assistant Director Communications/Digital Media. He oversees all multimedia production in the Athletic department including streaming services, social media content and in-game production. Davis works with all 22 Varsity teams at Johns Hopkins. 

Davis is a 2017 graduate of Western Michigan University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film, Video and Media Studies and a minor in Business. Beginning his sophomore year, Davis was a videographer for the school’s Division 1 football team, eventually advancing to Assistant Video Coordinator. Davis filmed, edited, and provided coaches’ film and covered the team’s trips to the Bahamas and Cotton Bowls. While at WMU, Davis played club lacrosse and served as team captain his senior year. 

Next, Davis earned a Master’s degree in Sports Administration at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. In 2018, Davis started as a Digital Media Graduate Assistant and advanced to Assistant Director of Digital Media in 2019. At Canisius, Davis was responsible for the coverage of Division 1 Men’s Hockey, Baseball, Golf, Women’s Rowing, Softball, Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Cross Country/Track & Field, Lacrosse, Soccer and Swimming & Diving. Davis also interned with the Sabres and Bandits while also supporting ESPN Monday Night Football coverage of the Bills during his time in Buffalo.  

After graduating from Canisius, Davis became Director of Video Services for the University of South Carolina Upstate in 2020. At Upstate, Davis was responsible for ESPN broadcasts, video content and social media assets for the Men’s Baseball, Women’s Softball, Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Cross country/Track & Field, Golf and Soccer teams. 

From 2019 to 2022, Davis was a Team Videographer for USA Lacrosse. Davis covered Team USA at the 2022 World Lacrosse Men’s U21 Championship in Limerick, Ireland, where they captured the goal medal edging out Canada, 12-10. 

At Hopkins, Davis has Directed the in–house production of many events including the 2022 Women’s Lacrosse National Championship, the annual Premier Lacrosse League weekend, the annual All-American Lacrosse game, and the multiple NCAA Tournament competitions (Men’s Lacrosse, Baseball, Men’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Basketball). 

Davis is an avid sports fan who loves golfing, skiing and ice hockey, devouring sports content and attending collegiate and professional sporting events.Â
