Terence McGowan joined the Johns Hopkins Department of Athletics in July 2023 as Senior Associate Director of Development. In this role, McGowan manages a portfolio of current and prospective donors and serves as the primary development liaison for Football, Track & Field/Cross Country, Water Polo, Fencing, Men’s and Women’s Tennis and Volleyball.

McGowan oversees all annual giving operations for Hopkins Athletics, including Giving Week, sport-specific giving clubs, the Leadership Giving Circle and alumni participation. He also manages the Blue Jays Unlimited Board of Advisors and plays a key role in fundraising efforts for major gifts, capital projects, endowments and scholarships. During his tenure at Johns Hopkins, he has consistently exceeded annual revenue goals and contributed to the continued growth of Blue Jays Unlimited. In FY26, Blue Jays Unlimited achieved an all-time annual giving revenue record of $2.5 million, with McGowan playing a key role in that success.

Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, McGowan served as Associate Director of Blue-N*-Gold Annual Giving for the Naval Academy Athletic Association, where he oversaw annual giving operations, led record-setting Giving Tuesday initiatives and cultivated annual and major gift prospects. He also played a key role in helping the Blue-N*-Gold achieve a record membership level in 2021.

McGowan earned his bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Towson University.
