Erin Long was promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics for Sport Performance & Wellness and Head Athletic Trainer on July 1, 2023. She continues to serve in a clinical role as the athletic trainer for the nationally-ranked Blue Jay volleyball team. She also leads a team of eight full-time certified athletic trainers, who provide care for Johns Hopkins' 24 varsity athletic teams and more than 700 student-athletes.
 
Under Long's direction, the Sport Performance area also includes five full-time strength and conditioning coaches, a dietician, and collaboration with both mental health & performance and student outreach & support. In addition to leading a robust staff of more than a dozen, she assumed additional administrative responsibilities as the Assistant Director of Athletics. Among her responsibilities as an Assistant AD, she works with Associate Director of Athletics Allison Fondale on several Student-Athlete Leadership, Development, and Sports Performance and Wellness initiatives.
 
Long is a graduate of Salisbury University and earned her master's degree in health administration from Towson University. She arrived at Johns Hopkins in 2006 as a graduate assistant athletic trainer before joining the staff in a full-time role in 2008. Long was promoted to associate athletic trainer in 2009 and Director of Sport Performance & Wellness in 2019, when she joined Director of Athletics' Jen Baker's senior staff.
 
Long is a Maryland licensed and BOC certified athletic trainer. She has recently expanded her clinical skill set with a certification in dry needling. She completed several courses at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, including: Executive Certificate in Healthcare Leadership and Management (2017), The Academy for Women and Leadership (2024) and The Executive Certificate in Organizational Leadership (2026).

Long lives in Pasadena, MD with her husband Ricky and children Brayden and Brielle.
