Muhlenberg Shuts Out Blue Jays, 2-0, In Field Hockey

Allentown, PA - Mules forward Kristen Bruschi scored both goals of the game to lead the Muhlenberg College field hockey team to a 2-0 win over No. 20 Johns Hopkins Saturday afternoon.

Hopkins fell to 11-7 overall and 6-2 in the Centennial Conference, while the Mules improved to 13-5 overall and 5-3 in league play.

Bruschi scored off an assist from Lauren Jacobs with 8:30 remaining in the first half, and added an insurance goal at the 15:41 mark of the second half.

The Blue Jays held an 11-5 advantage in penalty corners but could not score on Muhlenberg goalkeeper Josie Fasolino, who made 13 saves to record the shutout. JHU senior goalkeeper Missi Schafhauser (Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) made five saves in defeat for the Blue Jays.

The Mules held a 16-14 advantage in shots. JHU junior forward Jenny Farrelly (Clinton Township, NJ/North Hunterdon) led the Blue Jay offense with five shots.

Hopkins will conclude its regular season Tuesday with a 3:30 p.m. game at Gettysburg College.
