JHU Falls to Ursinus, 1-0 in Season-Finale

COLLEGEVILLE, PA -- Sophomore midfielder Jess Rogers (Selinsgrove, PA/Selinsgrove) scored the only goal of the game just 2:52 into the first half to lead fourth-ranked Ursinus to 1-0 victory over Johns Hopkins in Centennial Conference field hockey action Saturday afternoon. The Bears ran their winning streak to 14 games and improve to 17-1, 10-0 in the Centennial Conference. Hopkins ends the season at 6-12, 3-7.

Rogers netted the unassisted goal that proved to be the game-winner off a scramble in front of the cage. Despite outshooting the Blue Jays, 26-9 the Bears couldn't solve Johns Hopkins sophomore Dayna Eng (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) over the remainder of the game as Eng had 17 saves, including several from point-blank range.

Ursinus, which will host the Centennial Conference Tournament next weekend, got six saves from freshman goalie Jessica Lamina and held an 11-9 advantage in penalty corners.
