SWARTHMORE, PA - Swarthmore's Julia Morrison scored the game's only goal 2:16 into the second half to lead the Garnet Tide past Johns Hopkins 1-0 in Tuesday's Centennial Conference matchup. The Blue Jays fell to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in the CC while Swarthmore improved to 6-3 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
Summer Spicer set up Morrison for the game-winning goal after a scoreless first half despite a combined 23 shots from both teams. The Blue Jays out-shot the Garnet Tide 12-8 in the second period and 23-20 overall while also leading in penalty corners, 8-0.
Johns Hopkins senior Chrissie Terpeluk (Chestertown, MD/Gunston Day) took a team-high eight shots while freshman Casey Branchini (Lewiston, NY/Nichols) and junior Meighan Roose (Baltimore, MD/York) added six and five.
Karen Lorang earned the shutout for Swarthmore by making 13 saves in 70 minutes in goal. Sophomore Dayna Eng (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) had eight saves for Hopkins.
Johns Hopkins meets Franklin & Marshall (8-2, 2-1) in another conference game this Saturday, Oct. 9 at 12 p.m.
