BALTIMORE, MD - Sophomore Emily Miller (Garden City, NY/Garden City) had both goals for Johns Hopkins (8-5, 4-1) in 2-0 Centennial Conference win over Dickinson (5-7, 2-4) Wednesday evening. The Blue Jays are 7-1 in their last eight games after starting the season at 1-4. With the win, Hopkins moves into a tie for second place in the conference with eight points.
Miller broke a scoreless tie just over four minutes into the second half with her team-leading ninth of the season. Sophomore Adair Landy (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) controlled the ball deep in the Hopkins defensive zone and took the ball all the way to the Dickinson goal. After beating the last defender, Landy touched the ball to Miller who redirected it past Red Devils' goalie Amanda West.
At the 51:36 mark, Miller scored an insurance goal for Hopkins and her 10th of the season. Off a Blue Jay penalty corner, Miller put home a loss ball amid a scrum in front of the Red Devils' goal. It was the second multi-goal game for Miller this season.
The Hopkins defense was solid in front of senior goalie Dayna Eng (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) who faced just six shots. She finished with four saves in net for her first shutout of the season and seventh of her career. Eng is now just two saves shy of tying Jenny O'Hara for sixth in career saves. West finished with 12 saves for the Red Devils.
The Blue Jays return to action on Saturday, October 14 when the Haverford Fords visit Homewood Field. Game time for this Centennial onference match-up is 1:00 p.m.
