BALTIMORE, MD - The #7 Johns Hopkins field hockey team scored two second-half goals to defeat #18 Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday afternoon 2-0 in Centennial Conference action. The Blue Jays improve their record to 10-2 overall and 6-0 in the Centennial. The Diplomats fall to 8-4 overall and 4-2 in the conference.

Hopkins outshot Franklin & Marshall 4-2 in the first half, but two saves by goalie Jennifer Burdo kept the game scoreless. Sophomore Gabi Henn (Lambertville, NJ/South Hunterdon Regional) finally got the Blue Jays on the board at 54:52 with her sixth of the season. Junior Emily Miller (Garden City, NY/Garden City) crossed the ball from the right side and amidst a scramble in front of the Diplomats' cage, Henn buried it to make it 1-0.

Junior Katie Wong (Los Angeles, CA/Harvard-Westlake) pushed Hopkins lead to two at 59:33 with her first of the season. Wong collected a pass from junior Leah Horton (Wayne, PA/Upper Merion Area) and shot it into the right corner of the cage. That would be all Hopkins would need as sophomore goalie Sophia Tieu (Cupertino, CA/Cupertino) made four saves in the second half to earn her second shutout in the last three games.

The Blue Jays had the edge in shots (11-9) and corners (13-9) in the win. Tieu finished with four saves, while Burdo also had four saves.

Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, October 13 when the Muhlenberg Mules visit historic Homewood Field. The Mules are also undefeated in the Centennial, heading into their 7:00 pm match tonight with Swarthmore. Saturday's match is set for 5:00 pm.
