CHESTERTOWN, MD - Junior Adair Landy (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) scored twice to lead #9 Johns Hopkins to a 4-0 win at Washington College in Centennial Conference action Friday night. It is the sixth straight win for the Blue Jays (9-1, 5-0 CC) and 15th in the series with the Shorewomen (4-7, 0-4 CC).
Landy needed just 2:23 to get Hopkins on the board, scoring her seventh of the season off a nice pass from sophomore Andrea Vandersall (Hampton, NH/ Winnacunnet). That would be all the scoring in the first half as the Blue Jays outshot the Shorewomen 22-1 in the first 35 minutes.
In the second half, Landy did not need long to find the cage again, scoring her second of the night just 7:40 in. Vandersall pushed Hopkins lead to three with her fourth of the season at 51:55, when she redirected a shot by Leah Dudley (Westborough, MA/Westborough). Less than six minutes later, junior Leah Horton (Wayne, PA/Upper Merion Area) blasted a shot past Elena Nicholoff to make it a 4-0 game.
Sophomore goalie Sophia Tieu (Cupertino, CA/Cupertino) made six saves, all in the second half, to earn her first career shutout. For the Shorewomen, Nicholoff made 21 saves in the cage. Hopkins had the edge in shots (34-9) and penalty corners (15-3) in the game. Landy now has 70 points and 27 goals in her career, ranking her tied for the fifth and tied for seventh, respectively, in school history.
Hopkins returns to action on Monday when #6 Christopher Newport visits historic Homewood Field. Game time is set for 4:30 pm.
