BRYN MAWR, PA - Eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins got a pair of goals from senior Adair Landy (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) and juniors Catie Farrow (Nowarlk, CT/Brien McMahon) and Andrea Vandersall (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet) in a 9-0 win over Bryn Mawr Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 14-2 overall and 7-1 in the Centennial Conference, while the Owls fall to 1-14 overall and 1-9.
As they have made a habit of all season long, the Blue Jays jumped on their opponent early with Farrow scoring just 4:26 into the game. Landy then scored back-to-back goals at 14:32 and 23:53 to push Hopkins' lead to 3-0. Junior Kelly Kimmerling (Blythewood, SC/Pioneer (MI)) closed out the scoring for the first half with her third of the season at 28:01.
The second half started just like the first as Vandersall the first of her two just 3:23 in. Just 22 seconds later, Farrow scored her second of the day and Hopkins led 6-0. Vandersall tacked on another goal, her ninth of the season, at 45:34. Freshman Annie Shepard (Grosse Point Park, MI/Grosse Point South) followed with her second of the season, just 58 seconds later. Senior Emily Miller (Garden City, NY/Garden City) would close out the scoring at 50:05 with her 23rd of the season.
Miller's goal gave her 49 points for the season, breaking her own school single-season record of 48 that she set in 2006. Landy finished with five points (2g, 1a) to push her career total to 91 and ranking her fourth in program history. Her 23 career assists also rank third in JHU history.
Junior goalie Sophia Tieu (Cupertino, CA/Cupertino) played the first half for the Blue Jays and was not forced to make a save. Freshman Kim Stein (New Hyde Park, NY/New Hyde Park Memorial) played the second half and finished with one save. For the Owls, Elizabeth Toft finished with 33 saves in the goal.
Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 29 as it travels to Westminster, MD to take on McDaniel. The Centennial Conference match-up is scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm.
