COLLEGEVILLE, PA - The second-seeded Johns Hopkins field hockey team advanced to the Centennial Conference title game for the seventh time in nine years on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Gettysburg. The Blue Jays improve to 16-3 on the season while the Bullets end their season at 13-6. Hopkins will meet Ursinus in the championship game on Sunday.

Senior Leah Horton (Wayne, PA/Upper Merion Area) put the Blue Jays on the board at 17:06 as she scored on a penalty stroke following a foul by Gettysburg just in front of the cage.

Hopkins, which outshot Gettysburg 13-6, went up 2-0 at 42:20 when junior forward Andrea Vandersall (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet) redirected a pass from senior midfielder Adair Landy (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) in front of the cage.

Junior goalkeeper Sophia Tieu (Cupertino, CA/Cupertino) needed to make just one save for the Blue Jays, while junior goalkeeper Christina Anderson made two saves for the Bullets. Tieu is just the fourth goalie in school history to post a shutout in a Centennial Conference Tournament game.

Horton's penalty stroke is the second of her career in a Centennial Conference Tournament game as she also scored on a penalty stroke against Muhlenberg in the 2007 Semifinals. She is the only player in JHU history to convert a regulation penalty stroke in a Centennial Conference Tournament game. Sunday's match-up between Hopkins and Ursinus is the third straight time the two schools have met in the conference finals. The Blue Jays are 2-4 in the conference title game, while the Bears are 4-0. The game is slated for a 1:00 pm start at The Eleanor Frost Snell Alumnae Field.
