BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Haverford on Saturday evening in Goldfarb Gym. With the loss the Blue Jays slip to 10-10 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while the Fords improve to 9-9 overall and 3-0 in conference matches.

Haverford took the match in straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-17. The Fords jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the first set, but the Blue Jays fought back and evened the score at 9-9. From then on it was all Haverford as the visitors went on a 16-6 run to close out the opening set.

Hopkins started stronger in the second set, grabbing what would be its biggest lead of the match, 9-6, early in the set. With the score deadlocked at 12-12, junior Laura Ramos delivered a kill for the Fords, who went on a 13-4 run to grab a commanding 2-0 set lead.

The Fords led the entire way in the final set, with Ramos recording a kill off an assist from junior Kate Comey to close out the match, 25-17.

Senior KC Stingl led JHU with eight kills and nine digs. Junior Melissa Cole posted a team-high 13 digs, while senior Brittany Zimmer added seven kills. Sophomore Becky Paynter totaled 21 assists and six digs for the Blue Jays.

Comey dished out 29 assists and tallied six digs to lead the Fords. Ramos posted a team-best eight kills, while senior Kelsey Cantwell and freshman Haley Lowrance were close behind with seven kills each.
