GETTYSBURG, PA - The Johns Hopkins field hockey team fell 3-0 to host Gettysburg on Saturday morning in both teams' Centennial Conference opener. The Blue Jays drop their third straight and fall to 1-4 on the season while the Bullets improve to 3-2.

Gettysburg got on the board early as Sarah Cole dribbled in from the top of the circle and scored on a low shot to the right of junior goalie Kim Stein (New Hyde Park, NY/New Hyde Park Memorial) just 5:23 into the game. With just 15 minutes left to play in the half, the Bullets struck again to take a 2-0 lead. Off a corner, Cole passed from the middle of the circle down to Annie Marosits down on the right post, who snuck a quick shot into the Blue Jay goal.

Cole closed out the scoring with just 3:05 to play in the game with her second goal of the day and fifth point. Alyssa Heimbach found Cole on a pass from the top of the circle and Cole buried it to close out the win for Gettysburg.

Stein finished with four saves in the loss for the Blue Jays, while senior Jennifer Motylinski (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) and junior Zoe Koven (Havertown, PA/Baldwin) each had a defensive save. Megan Feeg had a pair of saves for the Bullets to earn the shutout. The loss snaps a six-game win streak for Hopkins over Gettysburg

Hopkins will look to snap its three-game skid, its first since 2006, on Sunday when Washington & Lee visits Homewood Field. The non-conference game is slated to begin at 2:00 pm.
