EWING, NJ - Host and sixth-ranked TCNJ had scored three goals in each half en route to a 6-3 win over Johns Hopkins in non-conference field hockey action Tuesday night. The Blue Jays drop their fifth straight and fall to 5-7 on the season, while the Lions improve to 11-2.

Junior Meghan Kellett put the Blue Jays on the board early, scoring her third goal of the season just 5:35 into the game when she raced up the near side and sent a low shot just inside the far post. The Lions answered with three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead. Camille Passucci tied the game at 11:56 when she tipped in a shot by Erin Waller off a corner. Leigh Mitchell then put the home team on top after knocking in a short pass from Caitlyn Jenkins at 22:15. Just over two minutes later, TCNJ led by two when Alex Okuniewicz put home the rebound off a Kim Stein save. Junior Maggie Phillips cut the deficit to one at 28:41 off a pass from senior Ali Bahneman on a corner.

TCNJ once again responded with three straight goals to push out to a 6-2 lead. Cassandra Martin dumped the ball down to Mitchell, who scored from a tough angle for her second of the night just 53 seconds into the second half. Just over three minutes later, Martin redirected a pass from Okuniewicz to make it 5-2. Jenkins closed out the Lions' scoring at 47:13 with an unassisted tally. Senior Annie Shepard put the final touches on the offensive output at 50:26 when she tipped a pass from Bahneman past Shannon Syciarz to make it 6-3.

TCNJ outshot Hopkins, 27-15, and had 14 corners to nine for the Blue Jays. Stein finished with 15 saves, while Bahneman added a defensive save. Syciarz had six for the Lions and Mitchell had a defensive save.

Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, October 15 as the Blue Jays take on Haverford at Homewood Field. The Centennial Conference game is slated for a 12:00 pm start.
