BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins women's volleyball team was victorious in all six sets it played Saturday as it easily defeated Ursinus and Hood in Goldfarb Gym.
Hopkins (20-2, 4-1) notched a remarkable .418 hitting percentage in its pair of victories, as Megan Cohan accumulated 18 total kills and Mariel Metalios had 38 total assists.
The Blue Jays cruised by conference foe Ursinus (6-11, 2-4) in the first match on Saturday, sweeping the Bears in straight sets, 25-13, 25-19, 25-14. Hopkins posted a .356 hitting percentage in the effort.
The conference's leading hitter, Jasmine Warmington, had 9 kills (.571 pct.), while Amelia Thomas posted a match-high 10 digs. Kristin Hanratty had 10 kills for Ursinus, as teammate Gina Powers dished 17 assists.
Hopkins then powered by Hood (6-11), holding the Blazers to just 28 total points in the straight-set victory (25-11, 25-14, 25-3). The Blue Jays had a season-high .475 hitting percentage as Cohan notched 12 kills and Metalios had 26 assists. Megan Schwarz also had a team season-high seven service aces.
The Blue Jays are scheduled to face its only nationally ranked opponent, No. 18 Salisbury, on Wednesday in Salisbury, MD. Hopkins is 0-7 all-time against nationally ranked teams.
