LANCASTER, PA - Jasmine Warmington notched 15 kills to power the Johns Hopkins volleyball team to a straight-set victory over Swarthmore in the Centennial Conference semifinals. The Blue Jays square off against top-seeded Franklin & Marshall in the final at 1:00 pm tomorrow, November 4.
Swarthmore (19-6) played its best volleyball in the first set, holding Hopkins (28-3) to a .222 hitting percentage. Despite the strong defense, the Blue Jays managed to win the set, 25-20.
The Blue Jays controlled the pace in the second set, holding the Garnet to a meager -0.67 hitting percentage. Hopkins connected on 15 kills to down Swarthmore, 25-18. Hopkins then needed just 11 kills to close out the match with an impressive third set victory, 25-15.
Warmington had a match-high 15 kills with a strong.545 hitting percentage, while Amelia Thomas tallied a match-high 15 digs. Allison Coleman registered 20 assists for the Garnet to break the school's all-time assist record.
The victory marked Hopkins' 28th win, tying a program record for wins in a season.
The championship final pits the top two conference teams from the regular season against each other. Franklin & Marshall gave Hopkins its only conference loss of the season, as the Diplomats were victorious in four sets on October 3.
