BALTIMORE, MD - Sophomore Kotaro Mitsuhashi scored a pair of goals and classmate Rob Heulerdished out a pair of assists as host Johns Hopkins shutout St. Mary's, 3-0, in non-conference soccer action at Homewood Field Wednesday night. The Blue Jays improve to 2-2-0 on the season while the Seahawks fall to 2-4-0.

Hopkins got the scoring going early as senior Nick White put the punctuation on some nice passing work by the Blue Jays. Sophomore Cameron Vit lofted a ball over the Seahawk defense to classmate Matt Carey, who touched a pass to Heuler on his right. Heuler dribbled into the top of the box and instead of shooting, passed off to White, who took several steps and then put a low shot to the left corner in the seventh minute.

Mitsuhashi then scored the first of his two in the 51st minute to put Hopkins up 2-0. Junior Danny Reateguidribbled along the right end line and drew several defenders before slipping a pass to Mitsuhashi on the six-yard box. He chipped the pass over Nate Ramsland for his first of the season. Just over 20 minutes later, Heuler took a hard, low shot that Ramsland just got a hand on. But the ball deflected right to Mitsuhashi, who buried it to make it 3-0 and cap the scoring.

Sophomore Nick Cerronefinished with no saves, but cleared away several dangerous chances in the box to earn his second shutout of the season. Austin Brown got the start in goal for St. Mary's and played the first half, finishing with three saves. Ramsland came in at the half and also made three saves for the Seahawks. Hopkins outshot St. Mary's 21-1 and had the edge in corners (8-0) as the Blue Jays improved to 24-0-0 all-time against the Seahawks.

Hopkins returns to action and opens Centennial Conference play on Sunday, September 16 as Haverford visits Homewood Field. Game time is set for 2:30 pm in a re-match of last year's Centennial Conference semifinal.
