ALLENTOWN, PA - Johns Hopkins senior Elizabeth Peijnenburg stopped all seven shots she faced and the Blue Jays got goals from senior Liane Tellier and freshman Elena Gresick in a 2-0 shutout of host Muhlenberg in Centennial Conference field hockey action Friday night. The Blue Jays snap a two-game skid as they improve to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference, while the Mules slip to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the Centennial.

Hopkins took the lead midway through the first half as the visitors capitalized on a penalty corner. Tellier inserted the corner and the ball kicked around the circle before ending up back on her own stick, where she put it past Kristen Dornenburg at 17:31. The goal came after Peijnenburg stopped four straight shots in a span of just over eight minutes.

The second half started much as the first, with the Mules putting pressure on the Blue Jay cage. But Peijnenburg made a pair of saves in just over a minute to keep her team ahead by one. Hopkins responded with heavy pressure on home team, taking six shots before the Blue Jays were able to get another goal. Following another Blue Jay corner from Tellier, Gresick scored off a loose ball for her first career goal and to give Hopkins a two-goal cushion.

The Blue Jays had the advantage in shots (16-11) and corners (11-5) over the Mules. Peijnenburg finished with seven saves while Dornenburg made four for Muhlenberg.

Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, September 26 as the Blue Jays face second-ranked and unbeaten Salisbury. The non-conference game is set for 7:00 pm at Homewood Field.
