CHESTERTOWN, MD - The Johns Hopkins field hockey team fell behind 2-0 but scored four unanswered goals to rally for a 4-2 win over host Washington College in both teams' Centennial Conference opener Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays win their second straight and improve to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference. The Shorewomen slip to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

Junior Alexa Lantiere scored her second goal of the game at 47:35 to put Hopkins ahead 3-2. Senior Storm Kodde put a shot on goal and Lantiere redirected it front as the Blue Jays took their first lead of the game. Less than 10 minutes later, Kodde fired a shot that Shorewomen goalie Stephanie Harryman was able to stop. But sophomore Leslie MacManus bounced on the rebound and buried it complete the four-goal comeback.

Washington College jumped all over the visitors in the early going and led 2-0 by the 27:18-mark. Jackie O'Connell put the Shorewomen on top at 15:53 when she blasted a shot from inside the circle past sophomore Zoey Atabek. A little over 11 minutes later, and after three straight saves by Atabek, O'Connell scored off her own rebound to push the Shorewomen's lead to two. Senior Shelby Graham got the Blue Jays' rally started at 29:55 with her second goal of the season. Following a Hopkins corner, Graham redirected a hit from classmate Allison Thompson to get JHU on the board.

Lantiere tied the game at two apiece at 44:45 with her first of the day and team-leading fifth of the season. After another Hopkins corner, sophomore Kiana Duncan blasted a shot near the top of the circle and Lantiere tipped it past Harryman to tie the game. Less than two minutes later, Hopkins had the lead off another Lantiere goal.

Atabek finished with 14 saves in the win, her second game with at least 10 saves this season, and Harryman made seven stops. Washington College out shot Hopkins, 23-16, but Hopkins had a 12-9 advantage in corners.

Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, September 18 as JHU travels to Annville, PA to take on Lebanon Valley. Game time at Arnold Field is slated for 6:00 pm.
