BALTIMORE, MD - Johns Hopkins came from behind to beat visiting Muhlenberg, 2-1, in Centennial Conference action Saturday afternoon at Homewood Field. The Blue Jays improve to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play while the Mules fall to 2-4 and 1-1 in the CC.

The Mules struck first, converting on a corner just 13:54 into the game. Meghan Gill struck the corner and sent the ball up top to Kayleigh Thies. She blasted a shot at the Blue Jay cage and Dayna Hovern redirected it around sophomore goalie Zoey Atabek to put Muhlenberg ahead. Hopkins battled back and finally got the equalizer with less than two minutes to play in the first half. Sophomore Leslie MacManus hit a long ball into the circle from 30 yards out. Junior Alexa Lantiere collected the pass, and backhanded a shot from the top of the circle past Mules' goalie Sierra Lenker to make it a 1-1 game.

It did not take Hopkins long to take the lead as senior Maddie Fryer put home what proved to be the game-winner at 43:19. MacManus took a corner for the Blue Jays, playing the ball to classmate Kiana Duncan. She rifled a shot from the top of the circle that a Muhlenberg defender cleared away. However, the ball went right to Fryer on the right edge of the circle, and she lifted the ball over Lenker and into the Mules' cage. Atabek would make the lead stand as she made four saves over the final 25 minutes.

Muhlenberg out shot Hopkins, 17-14, but Hopkins had a 6-4 advantage in corners. Atabek finished with 12 saves, making it the fourth time in the last five games that she has made at least 12 saves. Lenker finished with seven saves, with six of those coming in the first half, in the loss.

Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, September 25 as the Blue Jays travel to the Eastern Shore to take on third-ranked Salisbury. Game time from Sea Gull Stadium is set for 6:00 pm.
