Box Score

CARLISLE, PA - Host Dickinson scored a goal in each half to defeat Johns Hopkins, 2-1, in Centennial Conference field hockey action Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Jays slip to 6-8 overall and 3-4 in the conference while the Red Devils improve to 11-4 and 5-3 in the CC.

Hopkins jumped on the home team just over 16 minutes into the game on freshman Morgan Pothast's team-leading fourth goal of the season. Following a penalty corner by junior Leslie MacManus, Pothast slipped a shot through a crowd in the circle and past Red Devils' goalie Emily Fuss at 16:16. The Red Devils answered at the 29:40-mark when Tara Black cashed in on a penalty corner.

Dickinson then took the lead at 44:11 on Alyssa Stillwell's goal. Black dribbled into the circle along the right end line before centering the ball to Stillwell. She then banged home the go-ahead goal. Hopkins had several good chances to tie the game in the ensuing 25 minutes, but the Dickinson defense and Fuss stood strong.

Junior goalie Zoey Atabek finished with five saves in the loss, while Fuss made four saves for Dickinson. The Red Devils outshot the Blue Jays, 15-6, and had more corners (10-6).

Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, October 25 as the Blue Jays host the Bryn Mawr Owls. Game time is slated for 1:00 pm at Homewood Field. JHU will honor its four seniors prior to the game.
