• The Short Story: Eighth-ranked Ursinus jumped out to a 5-0 lead at the half and went on to defeat the visiting Johns Hopkins field hockey team, 6-0, on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action. Sophomore Greta Helvie finished with 10 saves in the loss for the Blue Jays.
How it Happened
• Amber Steigerwalt scored the game's first two goals, exactly eight minutes apart off corners, to stake Ursinus to a 2-0 lead at the midway point of the first half.
• Samantha Macchio scored off an assist from Colleen Leahy to add to the Bears' lead at 22:52. Just seven minutes later, Ursinus took a 4-0 lea with an unassisted tally by Ann Kopera.
• Megan Keenan added a goal to her two assists at the 30:59-mark scoring from the top of the cirlce off a Danielle Strong pass.
• Leahy got her second of the afternoon at 44:54 when she deflected a shot from Maria DiCioccio past sophomore Greta Helvie to push Ursinus' lead to 6-0.
What it Means
• Johns Hopkins is now 2-3 in the Centennial Conference, and sits in seventh place in the standings.
• The Blue Jays are now 2-20 all-time against the Bears.
