The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins water polo team had an impressive offensive outing on Friday night as the Blue Jays beat the visiting George Washington Colonials, 17-11. The Blue Jays, playing their final home game of the season, improve to 13-6 overall and 4-2 in the league. Senior co-captain Langdon Froomer led the Blue Jays with eight points, tying his career high.

How it Happened
• It was a close contest early as the teams traded goals through out the first half. Trailing 4-3 with 3:04 to play in the second, Hopkins scored three unanswered to go up 6-4 at the half. Senior co-captain Kevin Yee got the run going with his goal at the 1:59-mark, tying the game. Just 18 seconds later senior Garrett Davidson put the Blue Jays on top and they would not trail again. Junior Matt Fraser closed out the second-quarter scoring with his third of the game with 38 seconds to play. • Hopkins picked up where it left off, scoring the first three goals of the third quarter to push out to a 9-4 lead. The Blue Jays would outscore the Colonials, 7-2, in the quarter to take a 13-6 lead into the fourth. • GW got the first goal of the period, trimming the deficit to six, but Hopkins came right back with goals from Davidson and sophomore Jono Gillette. The Colonials answered with a two-goal spurt of their own, once again pulling to within six. But that's as close as George Washington could get for the remainder of the game.
