BALTIMORE, MD- The Johns Hopkins volleyball team's wild season came to an end Saturday in the 2015 Centennial Conference semifinals, but the Lady Jays didn't go down without a fight. After dropping the first two sets to McDaniel, Hopkins stormed back to force a fifth set, but fell just short. JHU finishes its season with a 12-11 record.
How it Happened:
- In the opening set, McDaniel hit .345 en route to a 25-17 victory.
-The second set was more of the same as the Green Terror took a 2-0 lead by way of a 25-14 win.
- Hopkins did not go down easy, however, as the Blue Jays won the third set 25-18, hitting .343 in the process.
-JHU played one of its best sets of the season to win the fourth 25-12. Hopkins hit .577 to force a decisive, winner-takes-all fifth set.
-McDaniel jumped out to an early lead in the fifth set, and was able to hold on winning 15-11 to clinch the match.
Who Led the Way:
-Kloe Martin finished with a team-high 15 kills to go along with nine digs for the Green Terror.
-McDaniel received 12 digs apiece from Genna Weger, Taylor Bauman and Maddie Moyer.
-Elizabeth Wuerstle led the way for the Blue Jays with a match-high 20 kills.
-Erica Johnston and Ali Cox each had double-digit kills as well, totaling 14 and 12, respectively.
-Stephanie Yokoyama had a match-best 17 digs.
-Reigning Centennial Conference Player of the Week Kristi Rhead recorded a career-high 47 assists in defeat.
The loss concludes the 2015 season for Johns Hopkins.
