STEVENSON, MD - Eighteen Blue Jays finished among the top 19 runners as the Johns Hopkins men's cross country team cruised to victory Saturday at the Mustang Stampede hosted by Stevenson University. Schaffer Ochstein crossed the finish line first in 26:14.31 to win the 8,000 meter race.
Following Ochstein was Ollie Hickson, Louis Levine and Akshay Alaghatta with Ryan Schwartz rounding out the top five. Eight different teams participated at the Stampede including Centennial Conference foe Ursinus, which finished in fourth.
The squad returns to action next Saturday when they head to New York City to participate in the Iona Meet of Champions, which will take place at historic Van Courtland Park in the Bronx. The race should test the Blue Jays well as many top Division III teams are scheduled to join Division I squads at the event.
