ANNAPOLIS, MD -- The Johns Hopkins women's swim team dropped its final two meets of the season, falling to Navy and Towson in a tri-meet at Lejeune Hall. The Blue Jays fell 192-68 to the Tigers and 166.50-80.50 to the host Mids. The losses were the first of the season for Hopkins, which entered the day with a 6-0 dual-meet record.
Hopkins opened the meet with a third-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay as junior Shirley Chan, sophomore Kaitlin Jones, junior Abby Brown and sophomore Anna Wisniewski finished in 1:47.72. Freshman Colleen Anderson placed eighth in the 1000 Free as she finished in 11:29.07. In the 200 Free, freshman Emily Cheng was the top Blue Jay, as she took seventh in 1:56.83. Wisniewski then took fifth place in the 100 Back, clocking in at 59.10. Jones followed with a sixth-place finish in the 100 Breast, as she touched in 1:06.43. Brown then placed fourth in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:09.24.
Wisniewski grabbed another fourth-place finish for the Jays, clocking in at 24.16 in the 50 Free. Chan placed seventh in the 100 Free in 54.30, while Cheng took eighth in the 100 Back in 2:10.74. Jones picked up another fourth-place finish as she finished in 2:24.06 in the 200 Breast. Sophomore Courtney Cowan then took third place in the 500 Free with an NCAA provisional time of 5:00.38. Wisniewski followed with a win for the Blue Jays, taking the top spot in the 100 Fly with a provisional time of 56.99.
Hopkins returns to action in two weeks at the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championship in Rock Hill, SC. The event is slated for February 10-13 at the Upper Palmetto Aquatic Center.
