The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins women's volleyball team defeated McDaniel 3-0 Tuesday in Westminster, MD, to clinch the No. 1 seed and hosting duties for the Centennial Conference Tournament.

How it Happened
• The Blue Jays set the tone early in the match with a 25-20 victory in the first set. Elizabeth Wuerstle led JHU with five kills, while Kristi Rhead added four in the opening set. In addition to handing out 13 assists, Sarah Elnozahy also served two aces in the first set. Hopkins also defended well against McDaniel to open the match, allowing only four kills in the first set by the Green Terror.
• Hopkins picked up its second straight 25-20 win, working back from a 13-10 deficit behind the serve of Genevieve Thomas, who served four aces in a nine-serve run. Senior Ally Hirsch led JHU with four kills without an error in the set and also contributed a block assists.
• JHU dominated the final set with a 25-14 win, forcing a -.069 hitting percentage by McDaniel in the process. The Blue Jays tallied half as many attacking errors as the Green Terror in the final set, while Wuerstle led JHU with four kills. Esther Hong and Thomas each tallied five digs in the third set, finishing with 10 and eight, respectively.

• Hopkins nearly doubled McDaniel in kills (37-19) but suffered only two more attacking errors than the Green Terror (18-16).
