The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins volleyball team swept Franklin & Marshall Wednesday in Goldfarb Gymnasium to improve to 5-0 in the Centennial Conference and 10-3 on the season.

How it Happened
• Johns Hopkins came out strong, working to a 10-1 lead behind the serve of Kristi Rhead. Rhead notched two aces in the opening set and added two kills, including one to win the set 25-17. Both teams tallied 10 kills in the first set, with seven Blue Jays getting into the scoring.
• JHU had its best offensive showing of the night in the second set. Once again, Hopkins dominated play early, taking the lead 12-3 before a run by the Diplomats cut its lead to four. Senior Ally Hirsch led the Blue Jays with four kills without an error, while Rhead and Sarah Elnozahy recorded perfect hitting percentages in the set. Elnozahy also added 11 assists in the second set. Louisa Kishton served a pair of aces to close out the set with the 25-15 victory.
Elizabeth Wuerstle helped Hopkins out to a 6-0 lead to begin the match with a pair of aces before F&M challenged JHU. The teams fought through five ties, with the Diplomats taking their first lead of the match 13-12 off an ace by Allison Edelstein. The Blue Jays powered back, regaining the lead 17-16 and closing out the set for the 25-20 win. Rhead led Johns Hopkins with four kills in the final set, while Genevieve Thomas led the team with six digs. Thomas and Esther Hong finished the match with 10 digs apiece.

Inside the Box Score
• The Blue Jays picked up their third Centennial Conference and sixth overall sweep of the season.
• This marks the second time this season that Hopkins has not had a player with double-digit kills.
Elizabeth Wuerstle tied her single-match season high for service aces with five.

What it Means
• The Blue Jays improve to 18-25 against the Diplomats, with this match marking their eighth sweep.
• Hopkins holds a 5-0 record in the Centennial Conference, the best conference start since the Blue Jays went 10-0 in 2011.
• JHU is the only undefeated team in the Centennial Conference and has given up only three sets in the process.
