• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins women's swim team opened its season with losses to Georgetown and William & Mary on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays grabbed four top-three finishes in the tri-meet.
Hopkins' Top Finishers
• Hopkins opened the meet with a pair of fifth-place finishes in the 200 Medley Relay. Freshman Michelle Wang, junior Sara Wujciak, freshmen Lauren Harris and Caroline Ward combined for a time of 1:49.70. Finishing at the exact same time were sophomore Natalia Rincon, juniors Gwynnie LaMastra and Anna Wisniewski and freshman Kristen Peterson.
• Freshman Bailey Robertson followed with a sixth-place finish in the 1000 Free as she clocked in at 11:06.22. Junior Courtney Cowan then took second place in the 200 Free as she touched in 1:55.40, just seven-tenths of a second out of first.
• Wang tied for fifth place in the 100 Back in 59.81 while LaMastra placed fourth in the 100 Breast in 1:07.20. Sophomore Elizabeth Duncan finished in eighth place in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:12.59.
• Freshman Alison Shapiro followed with a sixth-place finish in the 50 Free as she finished in 25.27. Wisniewski took seventh in the 100 Free with a time of 54.85.
• The 200 Back saw the Blue Jays grab third and fifth-place finishes. Wang touched in 2:07.91 for third place, while classmate Sami Kegel finished in 2:11.67. LaMastra then placed sixth in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:25.79.
• Cown took fifth place in the 500 Free (5:11.77) while Rincon placed seventh in the 100 Fly (59.69). • Hopkins then took second and fifth in the 200 IM. Junior Kaitlin Jones led the way with a time of 2:09.10 with LaMastra following in 2:13.41.
• The Blue Jays wrapped up the meet with a third-place finish in the 400 Free Relay. The team of Wang, Wisniewski, Ward and Cowan combined for a time of 3:36.82.
What it Means
• Johns Hopkins is now 0-7 all-time versus William & Mary, in the first meeting between the two since 1982-83.
• Today marked the first ever meeting between Hopkins and Georgetown.

• Johns Hopkins returns to the pool on October 28 at the annual Thomas Murphy Invitational, hosted by Loyola (MD). The two-day meet is scheduled to begin at 5:00 pm on at the Greyhounds' Mangione Pool.
